Numerical Simulation of Coastal Internal Boundary Layer Developments and a Comparison with Simple Moe attempt to describe internal boundary layer growth was given in the form of a nomogram by Prophet (1961) and reproduced by Van der Hoven (1967). Van der Hoven gives a graph based on the work of Prophet for determining the depth h of the mixing layer as a function of the initial over-water stability and over-land travel distance.

Dry Deposition of Fine Particles to City Surfaceso use. Presumably they would be combinations of physical parameters, such as: aerosol size, d; surface roughness, z.; and turbulence, u. (friction velocity), but lack of data prevents adequate guidance to modellers in this field.

Dispersion Conditions Over Land and Water in a Coastal Zone Revealed by Measurements at Two Meteorolonditions by use of z., the roughness length, and L, the Monin-Obukhov length. THis is done by relating Pasquill’s σ.-curves to the corresponding values obtained by use of a K model for a continuous ground-level source. Hereby the difficulties, associated with the different roughness and thermal properties of land and water, is avoided.
