Adsorption,us components (adsorbate) are removed from the flue gas stream by adhering to the surface of a solid (adsorbent). The mechanism behind adsorption is somewhat like condensation since the van der Waals forces that hold the gas molecules to the surface of the adsorbent are like vapor molecules, which cause condensation.
