RNA and DNA Metabolism in Aging Cultured Cells,itro has been studied by Hay flick and Moorhead [1] and by Hayflick [2]. However, biochemical and cytophysiological characterization of young and old diploid cells, as compared to cells that can be cultivated indefinitely, has been limited to only a few studies.
