Cultures in Human-Computer Interaction we present a formal framework that unifies the sociological and the economic approach to decentralised social co-ordination. We show how this model can be used to determine the outcome of decentralised social co-ordination within distributed problem-solving systems and illustrate this by an example.

Generating states of joint commitment between autonomous agents, may generate such agreements through negotiation. In particular, we focus on a discussion of the structure of an agreement, what it means for an agent to be committed to an agreement, and the communicative actions that agents use in the generation of agreements.

Culture, Practice, and the Bodyk presented here allows the behavior of different agents to be specified at different levels of abstraction, using a rich set of programming language constructs. As an example, we specify a meeting scheduler multi-agent system.
