Thermal Conductivity of Granular SiO2 Aerogelof k ≈ 0.5 W/(m. ·K) and thus extremely low compared to conventional translucent thermal insulations. Aerogel could be employed in modified house or Trombe wall systems, for direct gain applications in greenhouses, indoor swimming-pools etc., or for long-term storage of solar energy in saltless solar ponds.
