影響因子.This book invites readers to explore how fourteen different experts in their respective fields create deeper meaning in their profession and work with students through thinking, in multiple ways, about the self who teaches, the self who learns, and the ways in which these selves interact within the academy. Essays in this book explore the “inside” of academia through three themes: Pursuing Authenticity, Creating Creative Community, and Humanizing Education. Contributors reflect on their own lived experiences in the academy and on pedagogies that they have created for their students. Embodied education, the theoretical framework of this book, draws on ideas of educators Parker Palmer from the West and Dr. Chinmay Pandya from the East, emerging through contributors’ collaborative work. In embodied education, teachers and learners share experiences that lead to self-understanding and together find ways to humanize spaces in academia..

Cambridge Imperial and Post-Colonial Studies forest, I now understand how biomes can translate into a kind of healing in academic life. These efforts have helped me to take heart, make new meaning, and step more authentically into my own teaching practices and identity.

A Chinese Mental Map of the Irrawaddy Delta meditative walking, drawing and/or making photographs, and collecting artifacts. Nature served not only as an inspiration for writing, but also as a means of sharpening awareness, of fostering emotional health and spiritual regeneration, and of helping to create community.

This is the paradox of human existence: nothing is pure.

These efforts include classroom collaboration, discussing the stresses openly with students, and asking them to reflect on their own well-being. I also examine how the grassroots humanizing legal education movement dovetailed with larger efforts at legal education reform.
