Power and Equity: Which System Is Fairest?, “MFRL”-a knowledge representation formalism adequate for the description of medical facts. Underlying MFRL is a certain conceptual view of medical knowledge, which the authors believe to be relevant to a number of applications in Medical AI. A small prototype system embodying all the principles is presented.

A three stage procedure is outlined. This is currently being used for the evaluation of ACORN, a decision support system to aid the admission of patients to cardiac care units.
