影響因子Concepts of nonlinear physics are applied to an increasing number of research disciplines. With this volume, the editors offer a selection of articles on nonlinear topics in progress, ranging from physics and chemistry to biology and some applications of social science. The book covers quantum optics, electron crystallization, cellular or flow patterns in fluids and in granular media, biological systems, and the control of brain structures via neuronal excitation. Chemical patterns are looked at both in bulk solutions and on surfaces in heterogeneous systems. From regular structures, the authors turn to the more complex behavior in biology and physics, such as hydrodynamical turbulence, low-dimensional dynamics in solid-state physics, and gravity.

Robert W. Johnstone,M. Parameswaranral changes, are discussed. Firstly, fluids composed of spherical particles are considered. This comprises simple liquids and dense colloidal dispersions, where the states far away from equilibrium studied in NEMD are accessible in experiments. Secondly, as an axample for complex fluids, polymeric melts are investigated.

Parameswarantion from the probability distribution to quasi-meanvalues leads to in general nonlinear coupled differential equations for the macrovariables of the chosen social sector. Up to now several models about population dynamics, collective political opinion formation, dynamics of economic processes and the formation of settlements have been published.

Yoichi Imayoshi,Masahiko Taniguchise to a plane boundary impermeable to diffusion. The drift of this pseudo-bound state parallel to the boundary occurs on a time scale up to two orders of magnitude larger than the rotation period. The experimental data agree qualitatively with results of numerical simulations obtained within a modified kinematic approach.

Solid Mechanics and Its Applicationson scheme of the nonlocal terms by local ones which is based on a systematic gradient expansion. A truncation of this expansion leads to model equations which are widely used in the theoretical treatment of pattern formation in complex systems. Its application to spiral turbulence is studied in detail.
