圖書封面Titlebook: White Matter Injury in Stroke and CNS Disease; Selva Baltan,S. Thomas Carmichael,John H Zhang Book 2014 Springer Science+Business Media Ne
描述White matter injury can result from both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke as well as a host of other CNS diseases and conditions such as neonatal injuries, neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer‘s disease, traumatic brain injuries, carbon monoxide poisoning, and drug or alcohol overdoses. The extent of white matter injury is extremely important to patient outcomes. Several recent technological developments including advanced neuroimaging and the breeding of new rodent models of white matter injury have provided growing insight into initial damage and repair after a stroke or other damaging event. The proposed book will be the first to provide a systematic expert summary of normal white matter morphology as well as white matter injury following stroke and other CNS injuries.

White Matter: Basic Principles of Axonal Organization and Functionly myelinated axons. Being topographically segregated from gray matter, the white matter can be viewed, in a functional sense, as the “nerves within the brain”. However, unlike peripheral nerves, the white matter does not have protective layers of connective tissue around it or its constituent axona

White Matter Injury and Potential Treatment in Ischemic Strokeand/or regenerative actions on both gray and white matters. However, white matter injury after ischemic stroke has been less investigated and is inadequately understood. This review summarizes the current understanding of the pathophysiology and potential treatments for white matter injury, focusing

Neuroimaging of White Matter Injury: A Multimodal Approach to Vascular Diseases enabled clinicians and researchers to observe changes in normal and pathological white matter that could only be seen at autopsy. While greatly enhancing our understanding in multiple sclerosis and cerebrovascular diseases, these modalities have also raised important questions about the normal cha

Neonatal Experimental White Matter Injuryic encephalopathy is mostly found in full-term infants, whereas periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) mostly occurs in preterm infants. Clinical data suggest that both ischemia–reperfusion and infection–inflammation are important contributing factors. In order to better understand the pathophysiologica
