,Welding of Dissimilar Metals—Challenges and a Way Forward with Friction Stir Welding,cts. Thus, a detailed study regarding the importance, difficulties, and different welding methods for joining dissimilar metals for automobile industries has been outlined. Further, a?case study has been presented, where?aluminium-steel combination of dissimilar metals is joined using friction stir welding.

Fatigue Analysis of Dissimilar Metal Welded Joints of 316L Stainless Steel/Monel 400 Alloy Using GTt is subjected to service. Experimental results were used to fit the S-N curve, and corrected endurance strength and fatigue life were predicted based on Eurocode3. Fatigue damage theory has been used to quantify the accumulated damage. Fracture morphology has been analysed using SEM to assess the crack initiation and type of failure.

Modeling of Friction Stir Welding Processes,ribed, and their implementation is illustrated through an example of modeling of friction stir spot welding process using a commercial software, viz. DEFORM-3D. Typical simulation results are presented to demonstrate the capability of modeling in predicting thermal and mechanical response of a FSW process.
