Osiris Wavelets and the Dipole Gasr we introduce them in two dimensions. Sobolev orthogonality breaks down only between adjacent length scales for these wavelets, and we derive a positive lower bound on the overlap matrix. In the case of the dipole gas we also derive the hierarchical reduction of the renormalization group transformation for this wavelet modeling.

Inequalities in Mellin-Fourier Signal Analysishich are applied directly to joint scale-frequency distributions. A simple way of obtaining inequalities for Altes-type distributions is pointed out, new results pertaining to the unitary Bertrand distribution are established, as well as a new form of uncertainty relation for the wavelet transform.

Denoising via Nonorthogonal Wavelet Transformsvelet transforms can be transfered to the case of using nonorthogonal wavelet transforms. We review the Donoho—Johnstone method and discuss the three topics “threshold-selection,” “L.-approximation,” and “smoothness characterization” for biorthogonal and redundant wavelet transforms.
