Huygens and the Speed of Light,The seventeenth century saw the rise of modern science, notably with the work of René Descartes, Galileo Galilei, Christiaan Huygens, Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz. Isaac Beeckman (1588–1637) was a Dutch scientist who is not well known today because he did not publish his ideas.
