Past Climates of the Tropics,ime scale. This final chapter is a preliminary synopsis of climate and circulation conditions in the tropics in the geological past. The available field evidence limits this attempt mainly to the last 30 000 years. For the more distant past refer to the comprehensive review of Crowley (1983).

Diurnal Forcings and Local Circulations,oning of the tropical atmosphere does not seem to have received the attention it deserves. The present chapter is intended as a preliminary review of such diurnal and local processes, and as reference for subjects discussed in later chapters of this book.
