Vehicle Vibration Prediction — Why and Howeteen seventies a long term research programme was initiated to investigate both causes and cures. This exercise has been quite successful, and the low levels of vibration achieved on our latest machines are beginning to show the benefits of the studies. We are not yet satisfied however, and the efforts to further reduce vibration are continuing.

Free Vibration Characteristics of Laminated Orthotropic Thin Cylindrical Shells with Free Edgesilamentary composites has grown so high and the papers on the vibration characteristics of composite cylindrical shells have started appearing regularly. A good overview of previous work has been given by Leissa [l]. There are also some good recent reviews on composite shell vibrations which can be found referred to in [2].

Seismic Vibrational Loadings Induced by Rocking of Free-Standing Bodiest duration of several seconds and are most active in a limited frequency range, e.g. 0.5 to 25 Hz. Peak floor accelerations may be about 0.2g horizontally and 0.1g vertically, though conditions vary with the type of earthquake, local geological structure, and the supporting structure. References 1 and 2 give relevant background.
