Using Existing Flow-Field Analysis Codes for Inverse Design of Three-Dimentional Aerodynamic Shapesdesign process is found to be similar for both non-lifting and lifting aerodynamic shapes with the Navier-Stokes flow solver typically requiring minimum number of design iterations. The application of these methods and computer codes to turbine and compressor design has shown that the use of inverse solution techniques enables engineers to improve the design.
