Coupled Problems in Microsystem Technology, organized with some kind of interface for the coupling. Furthermore, this technique is perfectly suited for parallelization, especially for the use of (heterogeneous) workstation clusters. For the simulation of a micro-miniaturized two-valve membrane pump, first numerical results are presented.

An a posteriori error estimate for the unsymmetric coupling of FEM and BEM,the unsymmetric coupling. Since the computable upper error bound is local, we may use this information to steer the automatic mesh-refinement. The resulting adaptive algorithm is illustrated in a numerical example.

For a 2-D model problem some numerical results are given. Finally, the use of adaptive hybrid mixed finite element discretizations is considered for 3-D calculations on a rectangular geometry and an implementational concept is shortly presented.

Coupling of a global coarse discretization and local fine discretizations,e effect of the local defect correction step the local discretization error is discussed. If the defect correction step is performed at the correct places then the accuracy of the resulting approximation is in agreement with the resolution of the composite grid.
