Solution of Large Systems of Linear Equations,computers by brute force. However, practical problems in three dimensions can easily lead to (say) 100 000 equations in as many unknowns. On even the biggest computer planned to exist the solution of such a system of equations is utterly out of the question unless some simplifying features are present of which advantage may be taken.
