Preliminary results on the extension of eno schemes to two-dimensional problems, its cell averages, solution in the small of the resulting piecewise polynomial initial value problem, and averaging of this solution over each cell. Unlike standard finite difference methods this procedure uses an adaptive stencil of grid points and consequently the resulting schemes are highly nonlinear.

The entropy dissipation by numerical viscosity in nonlinear conservative difference schemes,ntropy variables and the construction of certain entropy conservative schemes in terms of piecewise-linear finite element approximations. We then show that conservative schemes are entropy stable, if they contain more numerical viscosity than the above mentioned entropy conservative ones.

,A “box-scheme” for the euler equations,law. Then it is presented for the equations of gas dynamics in a domain of varying area. Applications to the shock tube and to a steady flow in a nozzle exhibit the major features of the scheme. Preliminary results in two-dimensions seem to indicate that the extension is worthy of interest.

An implicit centered scheme which gives non-oscillatory steady shocks,We consider the calculation of steady weak solutions of an hyperbolic system in one-space dimension. By using an implicit centered scheme of second-order accuracy with an appropriate treatment of the boundary conditions, we obtain a quick convergence to a non-oscillatory steady solution.
