A Direct Route from Hydantoins to D-Amino Acids Employing a Resting Cell Biocatalyst With D-Hydantoition rate constants of different hydantoins to challenge the widely held assumption of spontaneous racemization of hydantoins. We then explore the optimization of process parameters for high yield and selectivity. Finally, the broad substrate specificity and very good enantioselectivity of the biocatalyst are discussed.

Transferase Catalyzed Synthesis: Applications in Series of Aminoacids and Monosaccharidestolase led to analogs of ketoses by transfer of an hydroxyacetyl group on an aldehyde. Various analogs of L-erythrulose and D-xylulose have been obtained. Transketolase also led to aldoses, such as D-threose and L-glucose by transfer of a formyl group on an aldehyde.
