Analysis of Tissue Damage After Laser Induced Shockwave Lithotripsy,optimal parameters for lithotripsy. All systems use approximately the same pulse energy of about 30 to 80 mJ, however with different pulse lengths and wave lengths. Different transmission systems with or without special couplers produce comparable stone fragmentation into small pieces.

Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) of Kidney Stones,Laser induced shock wave lithotripsy (LISL) using a flashlamp pumped dye laser produces a plasma on the stone surface which leads to a bright flash of intense light. The high temperature of the plasma vaporizes the stone material leading to electronically excited atoms and ions.

Primary Results in the Laser Lithotripsy Using a Frequency Doubled Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser,Experiments in using a frequency doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (532 nm) for laser lithotripsy were carried out. First results on the efficiency of fragmentation in using this technique will be presented. In detail the feasibility for the fragmentation of kidney, bladder and biliary stones will be discussed.

Gallstone Lithotripsy Nd:YAG Laser Versus Dye Laser,The development of a pulsed Nd:YAG Laser in Q-switched mode allowed the mechanical desintegration of concrements. After successful in vitro studies there were done animal experiments. A Survey of the Action of Lasers on Stones,stone surface. A plasma is formed just beyond the tip of the fibre only when there is sufficient absorption. By selecting the wavelength at close to 500 nm there is maximal differential absorption so that a plasma forms readily at the stone surface but not at the ureteric wall.
