Effect of Water Stress on the Decline of Leaf Net Photosynthesis with Ageage. Suspension of ageing occurred in leaves which had previously experienced water stress and those which had not. Ageing recommenced after rewatering when leaf water potentials rose above ca. ?12 bars and active net photosynthesis started. Possible explanations for the suspension of leaf ageing are discussed.

Hassan Qudrat-Ullah,Syed Imran Aliar in both environments but activities of respiratory enzymes MDH and ICDH were significantly higher at 10° growth. Stomatal conductances were markedly reduced at 30° and caused a sharp decline in NCE in plants from both growth temperatures.
