Chaos in a Piecewise Linear System with Periodic OscillationsThe paper studies a second order nonlinear differential equation whose right hand side is a piecewise linear function. It shows the coexistence of a countable set of periodic solutions and an uncountable set of bounded non-periodic solutions. Measuring and Analysing Nonlinearities in the Lung Tissue introduced to quantify the nonlinear contributions in the lungs in healthy is then employed in a theoretical analysis to show that the values are changing in case of disease.
