Why Should I Take Notes While Observing?,otes. My first observing notebook is filled with cryptic things like “Wow” or “Not much”. You can do better than that! If you take the time to find it, at least document it with some description of the object. Even if you don’t plan to ever look at this faint fuzzy again, give it a decent epitaph.

How Can I Find All These Deep-Sky Goodies when the Sky Is So Huge?, way around the dome of the sky can take the fun out of astronomy very quickly. Being able to point your telescope accurately at the target you are seeking will define your ability to have some joy in your observing: no find, no fun. Seems obvious.
