Self-propulsion of bubbles in a weakly nonuniform flow fieldcan be neglected. It is demonstrated that due to the presence of the ambient nonstationary flow field, the effect of the bubble’s self-propulsion is significantly enhanced. In a cloud of bubbles undergoing only volume deformations (but otherwise being at rest), the phenomenon of bubble coalescence is also more pronounced.

Cavitation nuclei and thresholds of acoustic cavitation in ocean watern nuclei determining the tensile strength of ocean water are analyzed. Acoustic methods for measuring acoustic cavitation thresholds in ocean water are described. Transient bubble oscillations associated with the underwater noise of rain detected optically and so the general magnitude of the initial radial oscillation is estimated.
