Recent Observations of Superluminal Sources, objects (Porcas, 1981; Marscher and Broderick, 1982; Phillips and Mutel, 1982; Walker et al., 1982). Here I wish to give a progress report on one of the objects - 3C179 - and discuss the significance of the fact that most of its flux density at around 1 GHz comes from extended, double radio lobes.

Bent Jets and Tailed Radio Galaxies,axies can provide a strong constraint on the average velocity of the plasma flow -- a contraint not possible for straight jets. It is also shown that the wide-angle tailed sources must be bent by a mechanism other than dynamic pressure resulting from motion through the ICM.
