The Impact of Brexit on East Asian Security: A Taiwanese Perspective,e very moment that Russia, and an increasingly bellicose China, are exploiting the destabilising impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to challenge Western hegemony. This is a problem which threatens the integrity and perhaps even viability of the rules-based global order which the latter underpins.

While the EU has the opportunity to help shape this, it is unlikely to do so, and will continue to react to events, rather than influence them.
